A sun-drenched living space celebrating materiality — terracotta, polished concrete, and natural oak create a warm Mediterranean narrative.

Terra Living is a love letter to the Mediterranean tradition of building with the earth. The client, a Barcelona-based developer, wanted a showpiece residence that demonstrated how local craft traditions could be elevated into contemporary luxury. We worked with Catalan ceramicists to create bespoke terracotta floor tiles with subtle tonal variation, partnered with a local carpenter for solid oak beam ceilings, and commissioned hand-plastered walls that catch and soften the intense Barcelona light.

Every material was selected not just for its visual quality, but for its tactile character and how it ages over time.
- Handmade terracotta — floor tiles throughout
- Solid oak — ceiling beams and window frames
- Micro-cement — kitchen surfaces and bathroom floors
- Hand-plastered lime — interior walls
- Recycled glass — custom pendant lighting

The material palette was developed through a series of "material walks" through Barcelona's Gothic Quarter and Eixample district, photographing textures, colours, and craft details. Each artisan was selected through a competitive sampling process, producing test panels that were installed and lived with for two weeks before final approval.
